Meet Zuri! What a beaty isn't she?! One of my favorite lions in Makalali Private Nature Reserve, I love the fluff coming out of her ears. While I was guiding in Makalali I saw her grow up and saw her become a mom for the first time. She got two little cubs and she did such a good job in hiding them from the other pride and other predators. Both youngsters survived which is special since there is only a 50% chance the cubs reach adulthood.
This particular sighting was extra special for me. She was walking with her cubs in a clearing directly towards a small pond. ‘She’s going for a drink!!’ is what my tracker said and we rushed to the other side of the pond to position the vehicle. After a minute or two she indeed was keen for a drink and walked straight towards where we were positioned. Via the link below you can find a video I took during the sighting:
