The dwarf mongoose is the smallest carnivore in Southern Africa. Their diet consists of mostly insects, including beetles and grasshoppers, though they may also eat spiders, scorpions, small vertebrates and eggs. They often hide in termite mounds to avoid getting cold during the night, only coming out when the sun rises again. Exactly what this little one was doing.
