Your Guides at Isambane Camp
Passionate, knowledgeable, and deeply connected to the African wilderness, your guides bring a wealth of experience in conservation and guiding across Southern Africa. With a warm and engaging approach, they create an atmosphere that makes every activity, whether on foot or in a safari vehicle, both memorable and enriching. Their understanding of the ecosystem goes beyond just the big game, ensuring you gain a holistic appreciation of the bush. From the largest mammals to the smallest insects, every element of the wilderness plays a role, and your guides will help you uncover the intricate relationships that make this landscape so extraordinary.

PHOTOGRAPHIC OPPORTUNITIES
The Greater Kruger is a prime destination for photographers and nature enthusiasts seeking an authentic wildlife experience. Elephants, lions, rhinos, and buffalos are frequently seen, while predators like wild dogs and elusive leopards remain highly sought after. With so many animals sharing the landscape, there’s always something to witness—from predator-prey interactions to exceptional photographic opportunities.
To maximize photographic opportunities, game drives take place during prime viewing hours in the early mornings at sunrise and late afternoons leading into the evening. The evening safari offers the chance to witness a spectacular bushveld sunset, followed by the thrill of spotting nocturnal wildlife as darkness sets in.
For our photographic safari, we will be using a private 4x4 Land Cruiser with an expert field guide, giving us full control and flexibility to position ourselves for the best photographic opportunities. With a maximum of six guests, you’ll have plenty of space and comfort while on safari, allowing for a more personalized and immersive experience. This smaller group size also ensures focused photographic guidance and tuition, with in-the-field coaching to help you refine your skills, master new techniques, and make the most of every moment behind the lens.
Between game drives, the lodge provides the perfect setting for photo cataloging and post-processing. Open up your laptop, and we can explore ways to enhance your editing workflow in Adobe Lightroom or dive into the fundamentals of photography, from composition and the exposure triangle to freezing motion for dynamic wildlife shots.
Your game drives will be led by a highly experienced field guide, whose in-depth knowledge of the region’s flora and fauna will enrich your understanding and appreciation of every sighting. Combined with specialized photographic guidance, this experience offers the best of both worlds — an unparalleled wildlife and photography adventure in one of South Africa’s most pristine and captivating wilderness areas.

The pool deck, just steps from two waterholes, provides a front-row seat to animals quenching their thirst—often including passing elephant herds. Evenings are reserved for a three-course dinner, set beneath the breathtaking southern night sky.
Sustainability is at the heart of Isambane. The entire camp runs on 100% solar energy, ensuring minimal environmental impact. Luxury Safari Tents

Each tent is carefully positioned to ensure maximum comfort while maintaining an open connection to nature. The spacious deck offers a tranquil spot to enjoy the sunrise or unwind after an eventful day in the bush. The Serengeti-style doors can be left fully open, allowing you to watch the nearby waterhole from the comfort of your bed or shaded veranda. At night, a remotely controlled external light lets you scan the surroundings for passing wildlife. A tea and coffee station at the back of the tent makes it easy to enjoy a warm drink while stargazing or on crisp winter mornings. The private bathroom, ensures that even the simple moments—whether taking a shower, relaxing in a steaming bath, or simply stepping away—come with uninterrupted views of the wild.

Bush Cabins
The Bush Cabins offer a unique, elevated experience. Built at tree height, these cabins provide a bird’s-eye view of the surrounding landscape, offering a completely different perspective of the bush. Perched atop a three-meter staircase, the cabin’s height allows for breathtaking top-down sightings of any wildlife moving through camp at night.
Below the cabin, a thoughtfully designed open-air shower offers a refreshing way to connect with nature, with a backdrop of trees and sky. The private bathroom includes a toilet, a changing area with a wardrobe, and a basin for added convenience and comfort. Staying in a Bush Cabin is about embracing adventure without sacrificing comfort, making it an unforgettable way to experience the African wilderness.

ITINERARY
Day One
Upon landing at Hoedspruit’s Eastgate Airport, you’ll be warmly welcomed by your photographic host, Jordi Woerts. Together with the group, we will begin our journey to Isambane Camp, a 1.5-hour drive with half of the drive through the breathtaking African bush. But in true safari style, you never know what we might encounter along the way. If an elephant herd decides to cross our path, we may just have to pause and enjoy the moment.
Upon arrival at camp, the team will be there to greet you, giving you time to settle in and enjoy a refreshing snack and drink. Later that afternoon, we will embark on our very first safari. It is time to explore the wonders of nature and capture the magic of the wild.
Days Two and Three
Wake up with the birds, enjoying a fresh cup of coffee and light snacks whilst listening to the symphony created by the rising sun. Game drives start early in Africa. We’ll head out around sunrise to take advantage of first light and the ensuing morning golden hour. Our focus will be on finding the best photographic opportunities, whether it is tracking a pride of lions, capturing a herd of elephants bathed in morning light, or photographing the vibrant birdlife. With our private vehicle, we have the freedom to tailor each drive to our interests as a group, ensuring an immersive and rewarding experience.
We will return to camp mid to late morning for a delicious breakfast, followed by time to unwind. This is also the perfect opportunity to refine your photography and editing skills with Jordi’s guidance. Whether you want to dive into Lightroom techniques, work on composition, or simply relax by the pool, the choice is yours. Since it is the dry season the pool might be the most rewarding sport, often we will see elephants, giraffes and other animals enjoy a little drink at on of the waterholes.
After a leisurely lunch, we will set off on our second game drive, following up on previous sightings and searching for new photographic moments. As the sun sets, we will pause for sundowners, an iconic safari tradition, before returning to camp for a wonderful dinner under the stars.
Day Four
We begin the day as usual, waking to the sounds of the bush and setting off on another thrilling morning safari. After breakfast and some time to relax at camp, we will change our perspective and head out for a special afternoon adventure, an unforgettable boat safari on the Olifants River.
This scenic cruise offers a whole new photographic experience. As we glide along the water, we will have the chance to capture incredible wildlife from a different angle. Hippos in the shallows, crocodiles sun themselves on the banks, and elephants come down for a drink. If luck is on our side, we may even witness a predator quenching its thirst. The river is also a paradise for bird enthusiasts, with countless species gracing the skies.
The experience lasts approximately two and a half hours, with an additional one-hour drive to and from the river. Upon our return to camp, the team will be ready to welcome us back with a fabulous dinner to round off an extraordinary day.
Day Five
Another early morning start, another adventure waiting to unfold. We will set off at sunrise, making the most of the morning golden hour to capture breathtaking wildlife encounters.
After breakfast, there will be time once again for editing sessions with Jordi, offering the chance to refine your images and elevate your post-processing skills. Lunch will be served in the early afternoon before we embark on our final evening game drive, following up on previous sightings and soaking in our last full day in the wild. Of course, we will stop for sundowners to toast to an incredible safari experience before returning for a well-earned dinner at camp.
Day Six
Our last morning in the Greater Kruger calls for one final game drive, a last chance to capture the magic of the bush before we say goodbye.
After breakfast, we will pack up and prepare for departure, aiming to leave around eleven in the morning to reach Hoedspruit Eastgate Airport by early-afternoon. It is always bittersweet to leave, but we do not believe in goodbyes, just a heartfelt See You Next Time.
With memories captured and stories to tell, we part ways knowing that Africa has left its mark on us all.

WHAT WE HOPE TO SEE
This reserve is home to some of the most diverse and extraordinary wildlife in Africa.
